Introduction
Developed in direct response to feedback from OCARA Alliance Members, these anti-racism training videos shine a light on the persistent inequities within the arts and culture sector, particularly those that continue to marginalise Global Majority communities.
They do more than highlight the gaps. These videos are an invitation: to reflect, to confront uncomfortable truths, and to engage in sustained, meaningful dialogue around systemic racism and institutional change.
While not a comprehensive solution, they are a starting point, designed to support a sector-wide commitment to continuous learning, collective accountability, and long-term action. The ultimate goal? A more accessible, equitable, and socially just creative landscape for all.
Why This Work Matters
Through listening sessions with the OCARA Alliance and broader sector engagement, several key learnings emerged:
(1). Equity efforts often lack depth and accountability.
(2). There’s a widespread need for shared language, reflection, and practical starting points.
(3). Many want to do the work, but don’t know how to begin.
(4). The burden of racial equity work still falls disproportionately on Global Majority individuals.
These resources were created to address those challenges by offering an honest, accessible foundation for long-term, sector-wide change.
